Garmin Alpha 300/300i and TT25/T20 GPS Tracking System (Announced May 2023)

Introducing the new Garmin Alpha 300/300i GPS dog tracker with Track and Train Technology – the perfect tool for serious hunters who want to track and train their dogs with ease.

The Alpha® 300i/300, like previous Alpha models can keep track with up to 20 dogs/compatible handhelds simultaneously. Displaying it all on a vivid 3.5” touchscreen display.  The Alpha dog Tracking Collars can send GPS locations and dog status up to a fast 2.5-second update rate. With the Alpha 300i/300 GPS handheld, easily control training functions by using the button-operated, dog-focused design. The Garmin Alpha 300i/300 handheld offers 18 levels of Training stim, along with tone and vibration options when paired with a TT25 Track and train GPS collar.   The Alpha 300/300i handheld gives the user access to premium Garmin navigation features, such as preloaded TopoActive maps.  When you need more, add a yearly subscription to Garmin's new Outdoor+ mapping with  including Birds eye imagery, and Land owner information (Outdoor + mapping requires an active yearly subscription available only through Garmin to access the maps)

New Feature Alpha 300/300i and TT25/T20 bundle:  Longer Battery life.

The Alpha 300 and TT25 collars boast a longer battery life than previous models, ensuring that you can track your dogs for extended periods of time.  With up to 55-hours of battery life for the Alpha 300 handheld, and 68 hours of battery life for the TT25 in Dynamic update rate, you don’t have to worry about running out of power before your dogs do.

New Feature Garmin Alpha 300/300i and TT25/T20 Bundle:   Dynamic Update Rate

A new update rate option is available called “dynamic update” It allows the Update rate between the Alpha 300 handheld and TT25 collar to change depending on the status of the collar.   It was designed to allow the Collar and Handheld to conserve Battery by reducing the amount of unnecessary updates.   Automatically adjusting the update rate of the GPS collar based on your dog's speed and movement, allows the collar power to be used more efficiently, in turn giving a much longer battery life on a single charge.   When If a Dog collar is not moving or is in the same situation there is little need to send the same update every 2.5 seconds, Only After the information changes will the collar use its battery to send out the new information.  If hunters do not like this setting, they can still use the standard 2.5 , 5-,10-, 30- and 2-minute update rates as before and manually set the update rate.  .    We have found that the dynamic update rate is very helpful, It gives much longer battery life by conserving batteries when the information is the same, However it’s more accurate tracking when the dogs are moving compared to a slower update rate setting.

New Feature Alpha 300/300i and TT25/T20 bundle: Better USB-C charging connector.

With its improved USBC charging port for both the Alpha 300 handheld and the Charging clip for the TT25 or T20 collar, you can easily charge it in the field, at home or on the go allowing you to spend more time hunting and less time worrying about running out of power. This upgraded power port is much more “user friendly” and easier to connect than on previous Alpha 200 models.

New Feature Alpha 300/300i and TT25/T20 bundle: Brighter Color Maps!

Alpha 300 Daytime Map ColorOne of the complaints about the 200 was it had dull maps and the color was not very vibrant.   Garmin Improved the color profile of the Alpha 300 handheld to be brighter colors, which makes it easier to read and track the TT25 on the maps, especially the birdseye mapping layers.

New Feature Alpha 300/300i and TT25/T20 bundle: Faster Processing/Faster Maps!

The Alpha 300 and TT25 collars have new and improved processing meaning faster map loading speeds. You can quickly and easily access the information you need, adjust zoom levels, and navigate menus to track and train your dog faster and easier with less frustration.

With the Garmin Alpha 300, you have the convenience of easily creating backup files of your device's data (which includes Dog information, Other Handhelds you are tracking and Groups,  Waypoints and other data.  Moreover, the Alpha 300 makes it so you can effortlessly share these files wirelessly to another Garmin Alpha 300 or 300i,  ensuring seamless transfer of important information between devices and essentially cloning your 300 device in the field.   this is huge for customers that have multiple Handhelds and a large dog list.

New Feature Alpha 300/300i:  Transferring and clone a 300 with a computer.

To clone your Alpha 300 and transfer data to a new handheld device, follow these simple steps. First, connect your Alpha 300 to a computer using a USB cable. Next, connect the new handheld device to the computer and transfer the backup file onto its storage. By doing so, you can seamlessly replicate your Alpha 300's data onto the new device, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of your tracking and training information.

Buddy's Alpha 300 TIP:    Once you get your Alpha 300 setup,  Save a file on your computer so if you ever loose your GPS in the wood, you can buy another 300 (at Double U!) and then you'll easily transfer all your data on your new device in about 2 minutes your back up and running.  This will be awesome for customers that need to send in their 300 for Replacement.

Alpha 300 Beacon light New Feature Garmin Alpha 300i/300 and TT25/T20 Bundle: Now has multi-colored beacon lights.

    Garmin TT25 Beacon Lights

New Feature Garmin TT25/T20 Beacon light Location

The location of the Beacon lights were moved to the corner of the GPS collar, This greatly improves the safety of the dog when crossing roads or navigating through the wilderness.  With the lights placed on the corners of collars, your dog is more visible to drivers and easier to track from various angles.  For example, if the dog is walking across a Road the lights will be more visible to the driver compared to a TT15 or TT15 mini where the lights are only visible directly in front of the dog or when the dog is walking directly toward you.  Compared to the previous Garmin collars the visibility and function of these lights are awesome!

New Feature Garmin TT25/T20 Tracking Collars:   Optional Extended Life Battery for the collar.

Experience the convenience of long-lasting battery life with The Garmin TT25. Equipped with a standard battery, it delivers an impressive 68 hours of dynamic tracking, outperforming The Garmin TT15 Mini. However, it falls short of the TT15X's battery life. But don’t worry! If you need the longer battery life you can upgrade to the optional extended life battery (sold separately), and enjoy up to 138 hours of tracking with dynamic tracking, matching the battery life of The TT15X.

    TT25 Collar Wifi

New Feature Alpha 300i/300 and TT25 Bundle:   Wi-Fi Handheld and Collars

Experience seamless wifi software updating for both the Garmin 300/300i Handheld as well as now the TT25/TT20 using Wi-Fi.  Previously you would need a computer and internet connection connecting to the handheld or collar with the clip and cord. Now once you connect the Alpha 300 system and collars to your home Wifi, your handheld and collars will automatically check for updates and install new software fixing problems and Software glitches.    (Note: The Alpha 300 will need to be powered on and have GPS acquisition to load updates,  and the collar will need to be connected to the charger for 25 minutes before it will pull and install the new software).

New Feature Garmin Alpha TT25/T20:   Ability to replace the GPS parts of the collar either when broken or with different sizes.

Replacing the GPS antenna on the TT25/T20 collar is simple, you just need to remove and replace two-Philips screws that hold the GPS antenna in place. Users may want to replace a broken antenna, or easily switch between differentGarmin Alpha TT25 replacement parts size antennas to accommodate a small or large dog. Additionally, a more Rugged version is available for those needing more durability like Hog Hunters. Currently, the Small Dog and Rugged antennas are sold separately, providing you with the flexibility to customize your collar according to your needs and preferences.   The new and improved connection uses a Pogo pin style connector, so it’s almost impossible to damage them when swapping GPS antennas.  Fun Garmin GPS Product History Fact! If anyone remembers replacing the collars and the connector on the Garmin DC30 GPS Antenna connector, You know exactly the hassle we are talking about and why this is so important!  We were really pleased with how Garmin made these types of Connections easy with less chances of installing wrong or worse breaking things!

Small changes on the Garmin TT25/T20:

Another subtle yet significant improvement by enlarging the gap where the collar slides through. For those who have experienced the difficulty of switching straps on Mini and Full-size collars, this enhancement offers a more user-friendly design. With these improved collars, you'll find it much easier to replace the straps, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

Garmin TT25 collarThe housing uses Rounded Edges like the Mini Collar.

A thoughtfully designed battery housing features rounded edges much like the TT15 Mini Collars, ensuring ultimate comfort for dogs with short legs, such as small-sized beagles. The smooth contours of the housing prevent any discomfort or injury, making it the ideal choice for pet owners who prioritize the well-being of their furry friends. With this collar, even the smallest of beagles can enjoy a secure and comfortable fit.

Replacing the Battery: (Optional Extended Life Battery)

Swapping out batteries, even the optional extended life ones, is a total breeze with this updated design! Gone are the days of the hassle with the earlier TT15 collars, where you had to disconnect a small white battery connector and risk damaging the wires.  Now, just undo the six simple screws around the edge and let the alignment guides help guide the connector.   But here's a personal tip from Buddy: make sure to check that the gasket is in place when changing the batteries. We almost didn't notice that the original gasket stayed on the board when we swapped ours, and so we nearly ended up stacking two gasket seals when installing our Extended Life batteries. So just keep an eye on that to avoid any mishaps.  With this fresh approach, changing batteries with the TT25/T20 is a much better experience than all the previous Garmin Collars.

Not only are the Garmin TT25 and Garmin T20 GPS dog tracking collars loaded with new features, they also have the same features we have become accustomed to with previous Garmin GPS collars such as the TT15, TT15x, TT15 mini, and T5x.  For those of you unfamiliar with Garmin’s other GPS dog tracking collars, here are some of the great features you can also expect with your new TT25 or T20.

    What to expect/FAQ

How far will the alpha 300 track?

Garmin claims up to 9 miles range with the Alpha 300 bundle, but under normal hunting conditions this is not a reasonable expectation.  Range will be different for everyone, but most working ranges are between 1 and 3 miles when using our optional extended range antennas https://www.dusupply.com/dog-tracking/garmin-alpha-astro-gps-tracking-systems/antennas.html

Should I have a backup battery?

While the Garmin alpha 300 has almost three times the battery life of the Garmin Alpha 200, it is always a good idea to have a backup battery to make sure your Alpha 300 combo stays running as long as your dog. However, the improved battery life of the Alpha 300 will be sufficient for a single day hunt. The TT25 and T20 that comes with our Alpha 300i bundles can last up to 68 hours per charge while using the all new dynamic tracking. Extended life batteries are also available for the Garmin TT25 and T20 GPS dog collars.

Will I need any special cables to charge the Alpha 300 combo?

The Garmin Alpha 300 combo will come with a new and improved usbc charging cable.  This is a huge improvement over the usb mini charging port of the Garmin Alpha 200

Are the maps any better on the Garmin Alpha 300 compared to the Garmin Alpha 200?

Map loading speed has increased with the new Alpha 300 resulting in less frustration when zooming the maps in and out.  In addition, the Garmin Alpha 300 allows you to subscribe to “Outdoor Maps +”.  With an Outdoor Maps+ subscription, you have access to a wide variety of premium mapping content that is regularly updated and wirelessly delivered directly to your Alpha® 300 handheld when connected to a wireless network.

Is the Alpha 300/300i combo right for me? Should I upgrade?

The Alpha 300/300i has some features that are not available on the Alpha 200i, such as a faster map loading time, the ability to add items to a shortcut, and the option to use a drag and drop screen menu setup. This is a much more user-friendly interface and similar to a smartphone's operation than previous models of the Alpha series Track and Train combos. If you find yourself frustrated with the map display and loading time of the Alpha 200 the Garmin Alpha 300i combo could be a great choice for you.
