Garmin's Instinct watch series allows users the ability to track up to three dogs simultaneously via wireless connection broadcasted directly from your handheld Alpha/Astro unit. While the Fenix series has this feature as well, the Instinct provides houndsmen with the features they need conveniently at-a-glance, with a price point that won't break the bank. Users can now stow the handheld unit away on a belt, lanyard, or backpack, and receive the distance, current action, and heading of up to three dogs directly to their wristwatch.

Firstly, connect both your handheld and your Instinct watch to a compatible PC, and use Garmin Express to ensure both devices are updated to the most recent software version

Next, ensure "Broadcast Dog Data" is turned ON in your handheld's settings.
This can be done on the 200i by going to "Setup">"System" and toggling the "Broadcast Dog Data" slider to the ON position.
Much like pairing with a Garmin DriveTrack, this will ensure your handheld is relaying the location of any tracked collars to devices in the immediate area.
NOTE: It is important to realize that the ANT+ broadcast signal is only strong enough to pick up from 10-15 feet away. Any further, and the device will lose connection and un-pair from your handheld.

Finally, enable the dog tracking widget on your smartwatch.
Press "Menu/UP" to bring up your menus.
Go to "Settings">"Widgets">"DogTrack"
Set Status to "Show"
Your Instinct will automatically begin searching for broadcasting handhelds in the area and should pair automatically with your Alpha 200i handheld.
