Double U 1/4" Synthetic Tree Lead

The Double U 1/4" Synthetic Tree Lead was built after customers told us they were having problems with traditional tree leads breaking. We wanted to make a stronger option without adding unnecessary weight or bulk for hunters carrying their gear through the woods.

At approximately 5 feet long from end to end, this is our strongest and lightest-weight tree lead. It's made from 1/4" synthetic material rated at approximately 8,500 lbs breaking strength and includes a welded ring in the handle, brass snap, and 2,000 lb-rated carabiner.

Whether you're using it as a tree lead, hunting dog leash, coon dog leash, or hound lead, it's designed to give you a simple and dependable way to handle or secure your dog in the field.

Two Ways to Secure Your Dog

For most dogs, wrap the lead around the tree, secure it with the carabiner, and attach the brass snap to your dog's collar.

The brass snap is convenient, but it is not rated and is the weakest component of the lead. If you have a dog that pulls hard or has a history of pulling brass snaps apart, you can use the lead another way.

Wrap the lead around the tree, pass it through the handle, and attach the 2,000 lb-rated carabiner directly to the dog's collar. This allows the carabiner to serve as the attachment point at the collar instead of the unrated brass snap.

Secure Multiple Dogs with One Tree Lead

Additional brass snaps can be added when ordering, allowing you to configure the lead for one, two, or three dogs. This gives hunters running multiple hounds the option to secure more than one dog with a single tree lead.

Important: The brass snaps are not rated and are the weakest components of the setup. Dogs that pull, lunge, or jerk hard against the lead can potentially break or pull apart a brass snap. This is especially important to consider when securing multiple dogs, since each dog is attached using a brass snap.

For a single dog that is particularly hard on brass hardware, you can use the alternate setup described above and attach the 2,000 lb-rated carabiner directly to the dog's collar instead of relying on the brass snap.

How Does the Synthetic Material Hold Up?

We've been impressed with how the synthetic material holds up around dogs that like to chew on their leads, but it is not chew-proof.

A dog can chew and fray the material and make it look rough. However, in our experience testing these leads, we have not had a dog chew completely through the synthetic line.
