Double U Garmin Alpha XL Base Cover

The Double U Garmin Alpha XL Base Cover was developed to protect an important and often overlooked part of the Alpha XL system: the exposed gold connection pins on the base.

When the Alpha XL display is attached, these pins are protected by the display. But when you remove the display, the pins are left exposed inside your truck, side-by-side, or other hunting vehicle.

If one of these pins gets hit, bent, or damaged, it can interfere with the connection between the Alpha XL base and display and may prevent the system from operating correctly.

We created this cover to give those exposed pins some simple protection whenever the Alpha XL display isn't attached.

Why Protecting the Alpha XL Base Matters

One of the things we've learned from using and troubleshooting the Garmin Alpha XL is how important the base actually is.

Most people look at the 10-inch display and naturally think of it as the tracking system. However, the Alpha XL base contains the VHF radio that communicates with your compatible Garmin dog tracking collars. The base receives the tracking information and communicates it to the display.

That's why we believe protecting the base and its connections is worth doing. From our experience helping customers troubleshoot Alpha XL systems, problems receiving or tracking collars can sometimes come back to the base rather than the display itself.

Protect Exposed Alpha XL Connection Pins

Hunting trucks and side-by-sides aren't gentle environments. Dogs, leads, jackets, tools, hunting gear, and other equipment can all come into contact with an uncovered Alpha XL base.

The Double U Alpha XL Base Cover fits over the base when the display is removed to help:

• Protect the exposed gold connection pins from accidental contact and damage.
• Keep dirt and debris away from the exposed connection area.
• Protect an unused base when moving your Alpha XL display between vehicles.
• Provide simple protection during storage when the display isn't installed.

Highly Recommended for Multiple Alpha XL Bases

This cover is especially useful for hunters who have an Additional Garmin Alpha XL Base installed in a second vehicle.

One of the advantages of an additional base is being able to move your Alpha XL display between hunting vehicles without moving the entire installation. The downside is that whichever base doesn't have the display attached is left with its connection pins exposed.

When you move the display to another vehicle, simply put the Double U Base Cover over the unused base.

Double U Recommendation: If you own more Alpha XL bases than displays, we recommend keeping a base cover on every base that may be left without a display attached.
