Many of our customers hunt with others in clubs or organizations, and when a new Garmin handheld hits the market, there is always the issue of if and when to switch over to the newer model. Previously, Astro 320 dog trackers ran on a 10-dog capacity software platform making them incompatible with the Alpha 100's 20-dog platform; many groups were split down the middle, as familiarity and budget were an issue for hunters not wanting to upgrade. Tragically, some groups have even stopped hunting together as a result!

Fortunately, the new Garmin Alpha 200i is fully compatible with Garmin TT15x / TT15 collars, as well as Astro 430 and Alpha 100 handhelds, eliminating division in your hunting party. Here's how hunters with Alpha 200i handhelds can share the same dogs with an Alpha 100 user:

From your Alpha 200i's dog list, head to the info page of the dog you wish to add to the Alpha 100, and tap the icon.

An option for Leagacy Share Codes should appear.

Selecting this option will display 5-digit numerical codes that can then be used to add the collar to your Alpha 100 by entering the track or train code.

Now, on the Alpha 100 unit, go to your Dog List.

Select Add Dog

You will be asked of you are near the collar. Even if you are, select No.

A message will then appear on your Alpha 100 unit asking "Do you know the track or train code for the collar?"

Select "Yes" and enter the desired code to give another hunter the ability to track or train your dog.
