This tutorial will show you how to add a detailed message to the Garmin Start up screen that displays every time the Alpha 100 is powered on. This will also display a start up message on the Astro 320 and Astro 430.
Plug the handheld into a windows computer. It should only show the word "Garmin" on the display of the Garmin Alpha 100, Astro 320, or Astro 430. On the computer access the  File Explorer
Open the drive named "Garmin Alpha 100" (Garmin Astro 320, Garmin Astro 430)
Open the "Garmin" folder
Open the text document labeled "Start Up"
Inside the "start up" text document in the Garmin Alpha or Astro will look like this:
<!-- Edit this file to display a message while your unit is powering on --> <!-- Allow one full power cycle after editing for your message to be updated --> <!-- Set the display number to the minimum number of seconds your message is displayed -->  <display = 4> <!-- Type your message on the next line --> IF FOUND CALL DOUBLE U HUNTING SUPPLY 855-384-8687Type the message you would like to display. (As shown above in Red)
You also must change the number of seconds the message will display from "0" to an actual number as shown above. We recommend 4 or 5 seconds. (As shown above in Red)
The last step is to click on file in the top left corner of the "startup - notepad", and then select save as pictured below
You can now disconnect the handheld from the computer. You will need to power cycle (turn it on, then back off again) the handheld TWO TIMES before your new start up message will  appear on the display of your Alpha 100, Astro 320, or Astro 430.
