I have been involved with tree dogs for the past 13 years and got my start with curs and fiest while in college. I squirrel hunted during the day and coon hunted at night. After graduation and moving home I transitioned to primarily coon hunting because of time constraints. When I made this shift, I got a few American Leopard Hounds. Through them I was able to meet some bear hunters and I was able to go on my first bear hunt, and I've been hooked ever since. I live in Pennsylvania where its not legal to pursue bears with hounds and have to travel to Virginia and West Virginia to do so. I didn’t grow up hunting and while I enjoy it, the dogs and the work they do is why I am drawn to this lifestyle.
My wife, Anna, and I have been married for a little over 5 years now and we have 2 boys, Charlie and Carter. Charlie is four and loves the dogs, and going out with them. Carter isn’t quite a year old yet so a little too early to tell if he will want to be involved.
Within the last two years I stared my journey into photography in addition to running dogs. I wanted to be able to capture quality images of my dogs. I now rarely go to the woods without my camera. It has proven to be a bit of a challenge at times but has been worth it. Sharing the images I am able to capture and show how hard these hounds work has been very rewarding.
