The Garmin Alpha 200i comes equipped with the ability to download BirdsEye files directly to your device over a Wi-Fi connection without the use of Garmin's BaseCamp program or a PC. An active BirdsEye subscription is required to use this feature.

- From your main menu screen, select "BirdsEye Direct".
- 2. Configure desired options:
- Location: Select an area surrounding your current location, a pin from your map, geographical coordinates, landmarks, or even your waypoints as a position of reference to begin mapping.
- Name: Use either the given default name (Birdseye 1, Trout Lake, etc..), or input your own
- Detail: The map quality. "Standard" will be the lowest quality, but uses the smallest amount of memory. Many users prefer "High" or "Highest" detail on the 200i due to its large internal memory capacity for Birdseye files.
- Radius: The size of the area you will be mapping. Remember that larger areas will require more storage space on your unit, especially in High or Highest quality, and will take more time to download. You can only select up to a certain radius to download per file, however multiple BirdsEye files can always be downloaded as well to cover a large area.
3. Select "Download". If you have a micro SD card inserted, you can choose to save the file to the chip, or your internal memory.
4. Begin using your BirdsEye satellite imagery. You can either select the BirdsEye file from the list to zoom to the location directly, or go to your map screen and toggle BirdsEye on/off from the map's overlay tab.
