I am Ross Ellwanger, I have been running my family’s line of Bluetick hounds since I was born, it’s in my blood. I hunt bears in WI from July through the beginning of October and hunt bobcat from the time it snows until the snow is gone. I also try to make a trip out West every winter to chase lions. 9 years ago I also got my first bird dog, a Weimaraner which is a pointer. My intention was just to have a family dog that I could take hunting every once in awhile but it turned into a full-blown obsession. I now have another pointing dog, a GSP. I hunt grouse in WI in the fall as well as making numerous trips to other states to chase various species of upland birds. In the spring time, when there’s nothing to hunt with my dogs, I train and participate in upper level hunt tests. Between the hounds and bird dogs I am literally doing something with my dogs 365 days/year, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!
